Year 1996 was Fenders 50th anniversary and the first production year of the Lonestar. Those from 1996 are reputed to have superior build and have a golden badge on the headstock.
The pickups are all original: a custom made Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates+ humbucker in the bridge position and two Fender Texas Special si gel coils in the neck position. Selectable by a 5 way switch, with the Pearly Gates being split in position 2 to maintain the Strats quack. The pickups are perfectly balanced in output and they really growl.
The guitar is in very good condition given it is now 30 years old (true vintage) apart from a few small scratches on the side next to the strap locker.
It is all original except two modifications: a graphite nut replaces the original cheap plastic nut, and locking tuners were installed without any drilling.
It was entirely cleaned and set up by a professional luthier in 2025.
The white pearl pick guard looks really nice on the rare Shoreline Gold finish.
Great sounding and playing guitar with modern features and great flexibility!
