Porsche Design Jazz desk lamp designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche for PAF in 1989. Utilizzed in the film "STAR TREK" These Lamp were made famous in one of the STAR TREK MOVIES AS THEY USED THESE "JAZZ" LAMPS IN ONE OF THE SCENES AS THESE APPEARED IN GREAT QUANTITY ON A CONFERENCE ROOM TABLE. I have this photo you can see. The lamps used in the movie was a gray color which I have listed.
In the late 1970'S "PORSCHE DESIGN" modified these lamps to include a newly developed "DIMBAR" switch . This "DIMBAR" is activated by pressing down on one side or the other of the switch. One side will lower the intensity of the bulb while the other side will increase it. But if you hold down either one of the sides, it's a loop and the lamp's intensity. (BRIGHTNESS)it will continue down and then back up again ... Until you release it. When you turned this light off and later turned it back on, the light would return to the last setting, making it the frist rheostat light in the world which retained its last setting being power up.
The lampshade is made of a small circular black plastic lampshade, fitted to a charcoal grey plastic stem made of three parts that slot into each other, it is therefore possible to extend or shorten the stem. The base is made of a charcoal grey and black casing with a long, slender black switch placed at the front on top of the base. It is possible to completely fold the stem onto the base. The lamp is in very good condition like new and in full working order. The bulb is provided.
