Korpustyp: Dreadnought Hergestellt in den USA Der Hals ist schön und gerade. Decke aus Engelmann-Fichte. Boden und Zargen aus Mahagoni. Sie hat Bindings und ein Kopfplattenfurnier aus geflammtem Ahorn. Die Gitarre war eine limitierte Auflage der "Gitarre des Monats" 1990. Es wurden nur 99 Exemplare gebaut. Die Gitarre klingt und spielt sich fantastisch! Es gibt leichte Schrammen und Kratzer auf der Vorder- und Rückseite (normal nach fast 35 Jahren Spielzeit). Die D-18MB (mit geflammtem Ahorn Binding) ist die zweite Gitarre des Monats mit Holz Binding; die erste war die ?Special D-18? aus dem Jahr 1989 mit Palisander Binding. Stilistisch war die D-18 schon immer ein relativ geradliniges, nach vorne gerichtetes Instrument, die D-18MB ist jedoch alles andere als das. Alle Bindings und Kopfplatte sind in geflammtem Ahorn gehalten und bilden einen markanten Kontrast zum Mahagoni-Korpus und -Hals dieser speziell entworfenen D-18. Bei der massiven Englemann-Fichtendecke ist die Verbindung der ?X?-Verstrebung etwa 1 Zoll vom Stegrand des Schalllochs entfernt, wie bei den Martins aus der Mitte der 30er Jahre, wodurch die Decke viel empfindlicher auf Vibrationen reagiert. Der flache Hals aus massivem Mahagoni macht die D-18MB extrem leicht zu spielen. Das Palisandergriffbrett hat ?Style 16?-Mini-Dots; eine einfache, aber elegante Note. Ein Schildpatt-Schlagbrett, ?Redeye?-Stegstifte und verchromte Schaller-Stimmmechaniken mit Ebenholzknöpfen vervollständigen die Akzente dieser optisch geschmackvollen Gitarre. Jede D-18MB hat ein von C. F. Martin IV signiertes Papieretikett und einen letzten Schliff ? die Unterseite der Decke ist von C. F. Martin IV und allen Werkstattleitern signiert, die an der Gitarre gearbeitet haben. A piece of Martin history. Body Type: Dreadnought Made in USA The neck is beautiful and straight. Top made of Engelmann spruce. Back and sides made of mahogany. It has curly maple binding and a curly maple headstock veneer. The guitar was a Guitar of the Month Limited edition 1990. Only 99 units built. The guitar sounds and plays amazing! There are minor scuffs and scratches to top and back (normal for nearly 35 years of play) The D-18MB (curly maple bound) is the second Guitar of the Month with wooden binding; the first one being the "Special D-18" made in 1989 and bound in rosewood. Stylisticaly, the D-18 has always been a relatively straight forward looking instrument, however the D-18MB is anything but. The binding, end-piece, heel cap, back strip and headstock veneer, all matched in flamed maple, provide a striking contrast to the mahogany body and neck of this specially designed D-18. The solid Englemann spruce top on this guitar has the junction of the "X" brace shifted to approximately 1" from the bridge edge of the soundhole, like the Martins of the mid-30's, making the top much more sensitive to vibration. The low profile, solid mahogany neck makes the D-18MB extremely easy to play. The rosewood fingerboard has "Style 16" mini dot position markers; a simple but elegant touch. A tortoise pickguard, "redeye" bridge pins and chrome Schaller tuning machines with ebony buttons complete the accents on this visually tasteful guitar. Each D-18MB has a paper label signed by C. F. Martin IV plus one final touch - the underside of the top is signed by C. F. Martin IV and all of the shop foremen who worked on the guitar.
