The Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC Chrono Flyback Automatic, reference PAM00653, is a watch born directly from the world of classic sailing, introduced in 2017 as a tribute to the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge and carrying on its dial and caseback the heritage of one of the most celebrated vintage yacht racing circuits in the Mediterranean. This certified pre-owned example from 2022 is offered in very good condition and comes with its full original set, including box, papers, and all original accessories.
Crafted in polished and brushed stainless steel, the PAM00653 presents the Luminor 1950 in its commanding 44mm cushion-shaped case, with the signature crown-protecting bridge at 9 o'clock and a sapphire crystal caseback engraved with the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge emblem. Built to 100 metres of water resistance and as purposeful and uncompromising in character as the vintage yachts it celebrates.
The matte black dial is deeply functional and immediately striking, with large luminescent Arabic numeral hour markers, a tachymeter scale calibrated in nautical miles running the outer ring, a small seconds subdial, a date display, and the chronograph layout that gives the PCYC edition its essential character on the water. A dial that has been designed for navigation, and looks extraordinary doing it.
Powering the watch is the Panerai Manufacture Calibre P.9100, a fully in-house automatic flyback chronograph movement with column wheel construction, small seconds, date complication, and a 3-day power reserve. One of the most accomplished and beautifully finished in-house chronograph movements in the Panerai catalogue.
The watch is delivered on its original leather strap, completing a package as nautically inspired as it is mechanically serious.
