This Canyon ALU 4600 is from around 1992 and it fits people from around 170 to 180cm. I fell in love with the original colour and decided to keep its history rather than repaint it. The frame has quite a few deep paint chips and marks, especially around the rear triangle, but after hand and machine polishing, and two coats of ceramic coating, the original paint has an incredible shine again.
New & serviced:
- New cassette and gold chain
- New shifters, brake levers, pads and cables
- Purple grips and quick release
- Multicolour pedals and new saddle
- Schwalbe Billy Bonkers tan-wall tyres
- Headset bearings serviced and freshly greased
- Quick release, screws and vale caps to match the build
- Brakes and shifting fully adjusted
The result is a unique neo-retro city bike with genuine 90s MTB character.
The paint imperfections are clearly shown in the photos. I'm not trying to hide them but they're part of that patina that makes this bike special.
This isn't a perfect museum piece. It's a bike with a story and a second and long life. If you're looking for something different from the usual city bike, this might be it.
