Gantenbein Pinot Noir 2024

For sale: Gantenbein, Pinot Noir 2024, Graubünden, Switzerland. I am offering an extremely rare allocation of the 2024 Pinot Noir from Martha and Daniel Gantenbein. In the landscape of fine wine, Gantenbein represents the absolute pinnacle of Swiss viticulture, with their Fläsch estate producing what is widely considered the only true Swiss rival to the Grand Crus of the Côte de Nuits. The 2024 vintage is an essential acquisition for collectors tracking the evolution of this iconic estate, showcasing the Gantenbeins' mastery of the unique alpine terroir of the Bündner Herrschaft. Vintage and Maturity The 2024 vintage in Graubünden was defined by a dynamic alpine climate that demanded meticulous vineyard management. For Gantenbein, this resulted in a wine of incredible aromatic purity and a focused, energetic structure. Being a very recent release in 2026, this bottle is currently in its "Youthful Brilliance" phase. It possesses the intense concentration and vibrant acidity characteristic of Gantenbeins high-density planting and rigorous gravity-fed selection process. Critical Standing: While full retrospective scores are still being finalized, early indicators for the 2024 vintage follow the estates trajectory of high-90s excellence. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate: Early previews of recent Gantenbein vintages consistently hover between 94-96 points, noting their "unmistakable precision." Falstaff: Historically rates these releases 96-98 points, emphasizing the "noble reduction" and "silky depth." Swiss Wine Press: Frequently cites the 2024 as a vintage of "exceptional clarity and terroir transparency." Maturity Status: In 2026, the 2024 is in its "Primary Ascent." The wine is currently a kaleidoscope of bright red fruitwild strawberry, pomegranate, and redcurrantinterwoven with the estates signature notes of flinty smoke and high-quality French oak. The tannins are present but exceptionally fine-grained. While it is a thrill to drink now for its sheer energy and fruit intensity, this is a bottle built for the long haul. It will begin to reveal its true Burgundian complexity over the next 10 to 20 years. Market Price and Value Gantenbein is sold primarily through a strictly allocated "friends and family" list, making secondary market bottles the only way for most collectors to secure a vintage. In the current Swiss market (Zurich/Geneva/Fläsch), the 2024 release typically trades between 200 and 250 CHF upon initial release, quickly rising as allocations are exhausted. As a "blue-chip" asset, its value is historically protected by its extreme scarcity and global cult status. Handling: If opening now, I recommend a brief "slow-ox" by pulling the cork an hour before serving, or a very gentle decant to let the primary fruit open up. Serve in wide Burgundy bowls at 15°C to appreciate the nuances of the alpine Pinot Noir.
