The YRA302BII sits one tier above Yamahas entry-level YRA28BIII in the recorder range, and the difference is immediately noticeable to anyone who plays both. Where the 28B series is designed to make sound production as easy as possible for beginners, the 300 series is built for players who are ready to develop real tonal control and expressive depth. The defining difference is the arched windway. Unlike the straight windway of the entry-level models, the arched windway introduces a degree of resistance that rewards proper breath support and gives the player genuine dynamic control the ability to shape phrases, vary tone colour, and project with authority. The body design is based on the historic Rottenburgh recorder, one of the most celebrated alto recorder designs of the 18th century, giving the YRA302BII an acoustic character that is richer and more rounded than a generic student instrument.
The three-piece ABS resin body is brown in finish, closely resembling a wooden instrument. Like all Yamaha 300 series recorders, intonation is precise across the full range. Double toneholes on the F and G holes provide accurate half-holing for F# and G# respectively, enabling clean chromatic fingering without compromise. Tuned to A=442Hz
for ensemble compatibility.
