In celebration of the Seiko 5 Sport?s initial release 55 years ago, Seiko has created a new version of one of its most iconic models, the 61-5D. With all of the technological capabilities of today, the limited edition SRPK17 pays homage to the distinctive late ?60s aesthetic of the original while offering the rugged reliability and functionality made for the 21st-century watch wearer. The matte black dial has a silver-grained outer track, red seconds hand, and blue Sports logo, which work in concert to capture this model?s quintessential retro appeal. At the 3 o?clock position, you?ll find the oversized day/date window that is joined by the original Seiko 5 logo at 12 o?clock.
The C-shaped case of the SRPK17 remains true to the 1968 model with its 39mm diameter and 12.5mm thickness, along with the radial brushing on the bezel, slight scalloping at the lugs, and the recessed crown at 4 o?clock. Thinner than the three-link bracelet that dominates the modern Seiko catalog, the included heritage-inspired steel bracelet is flexible, comfortable and features a push-button clasp for easy removal. Elevating the technical capabilities of the 61-5D, this watch now features the standard 100 meters of water resistance we have come to expect from modern watches. The SRPK17 is powered by the automatic caliber 4R36, which can be hand-wound, runs at 21,600 vph, and is equipped with a power reserve of 41 hours.
Unique to this 55th Anniversary limited edition, the Seiko SRPK17 ships packaged in a special edition collector?s box.
