Unconventional LED pendant light with visible cable
An art object in the form of a pendant light: with the Flos AIM LED pendant light, designer brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec challenge two fundamental principles of lighting design.
The first principle concerns the geometric center of the light source: light fixtures are typically suspended in the center of a room. With the AIM pendant light, this principle no longer applies; the fixture is suspended via long cables. Secondly, the designers break with the assumption that a cable is merely a means to an end and should therefore be concealed; with the Flos AIM, a "forest" of cables can emerge, creating sweeping lines that serve an aesthetic function.
The head of the AIM LED pendant light can be mounted at any height and tilted at various anglesthis total freedom allows for unique combinations. The resulting installations are reminiscent of art rather than mere design. The clear, direct light produced by the Flos fixture is ideal for living areas and for illuminating specific objects.
