Body: The fully hollow, laminated maple/poplar/maple body is similar to a traditional archtop, but with a thinner depth and a reduced, single Venetian cutaway body shape.
Neck: The mahogany neck has a rounded "C" profile, a bone nut, and a historic truss rod.
Fingerboard: The fretboard is bound rosewood (though some figured versions use Richlite), with pearl block inlays. Rolled fingerboard binding provides a smooth feel.
Pickups: The guitar is equipped with PAF-inspired MHS (Memphis Historic Spec) humbucking pickups.
Hardware:
Tuners: Grover "Milk Bottle" Rotomatic tuners.
Bridge: ABR-1 bridge with titanium saddles and a trapeze tailpiece.
Electronics: Hand-wired controls include a Memphis Tone Circuit, 550k matched pots, and Orange Drop capacitors.
Finishes: Available in multiple finishes, including Cherry, Dark Vintage Natural, Figured Montreux Burst, and Figured Dark Natural.
Key features of the 2016 model
Comfortable playing experience: The combination of a thinner body, slightly reduced body size, and rounded "C" neck profile makes the guitar more comfortable and manageable than a traditional large archtop.
Modern vintage tone: The MHS humbuckers and Memphis Tone Circuit offer clarity and nuance inspired by vintage PAFs, giving the guitar a versatile sound that works for jazz, blues, and rock.
Memphis Custom Shop build: This 2016 model was built at the Gibson Memphis Custom Shop, and includes a hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
Versatility: As a fully hollowbody guitar, the ES-275 can produce "gnarly growls" and controlled feedback similar to an ES-335, allowing for a wide tonal range.
